Microsoft: Breaking Up is Hard to Do
After years of litigation and appeals, and after finding that Microsoft violated antitrust laws, the Justice Department suddenly announced today it would not pursue the breakup of Microsoft, nor will it pursue the charge of illegally bundling the Internet Explorer browser with Windows. The announcement mysteriously coincides with Justice Department computers all suddenly working perfectly and never crashing, and with sightings of mysterious men with glasses and pocket protectors hanging around the federal agency and making cryptic statements like, “This is a nice Justice Department you have here. You wouldn’t want anything to happen to it . . . ”
